Welcome to the ELK website
55th edition 11-12-13 September 2020
The second weekend of September is traditionally the weekend of the ELK, the weekend of the European cactus and other succulent plants enthusiasts: have a look at the programme
The European Countries Conference ELK is probably the largest international gathering of cactus and succulent enthusiasts. The conference is held in September every year on the holiday centre "Corsendonk Duinse Polders' in Blankenberge, Belgium.
The program includes lectures in various languages given by renowned speakers. At the plant sale over 130 enthusiasts and professional growers offer cacti and other succulents plants for every purse. Next to the more traditional amateur plants also real show plants, novelties, accessories and a large choice of books.
Free entrance to the exhibition and the lectures.
The corona epidemic has almost brought public life in Europe to a standstill. How long this will last is difficult to predict. That is why many events that were to take place in the coming weeks and even months have already been cancelled. Many cactus and succulent plant lovers wonder whether this will also be the case for the ELK, which takes place in September. You will understand that it is far too early to give a definitive answer now. According to the specialists, the epidemic is likely to last ten weeks in Belgium. We assume that this will also be the case for the other European countries. That brings us to the end of May, beginning of June. Whether, with the end of the epidemic, all restrictions, such as those relating to travel, will also be lifted is an open question. But there is still a whole summer ahead of us until the ELK in September. That, of course gives us hope.
Via Facebook and the ELK website we will keep you informed.
